Goiás is a state of Brasil. It is located in the central-west region of Brazil. It is located in the heart of Brazil, between Tocantís, in the northeast with Bahía, and the east with Minas Gerais, and the south with Mato Grosso do Sul, and in the west with Mato Grosso. The population is
6,778,772.
The most important city is Goiana. It is a wonderful state with a lot of places that we can visit and have a great and fun time. The motto of the city is "beloved land, fruit of life".

Goiana city has a lot places to visit, such as the autodromo international de Goiana, Parque Vaca Brava, Parque Veija-flor. Some of these places you need to pay a ticket, like the autodromo international to enter but other places are cheap or free to go. Goaiana is a beautiful city with a lot of restaurants and malls.

Goia has many typical foods such as, (1) Goias arroz com pequi, (2) Empadão goiano, (3) Panelinha, (4) Biscoito de queijo. Delicious plates. Pequi is a fruit native to Goiás, it is sweet and makes a perfect combination with rice and green onion. The empadão is a dough filled with queijo minas fresco. Panelinha is like a risotto with rice, beef, pepper, and pequi (traditional Goia fruit). The biscoito de queijo is a dough with cheese. Yummy!

If you want to find a place where you can relax, you can go to this place called São Jorge, Goiás, Brazil. This is one of the natural relaxing places that you can find in the state of Goiás. The water is turquoise, clear and clean. It is a beautiful place to go during your vacation. Refresh your body and clear your mind, in this peaceful place.

I can’t leave this post without introduction of the typical bird of Goiás, the ema, or rhea in English. This is a flightless bird that is native to South America. It is similar in size to an emu or ostrich.

Goiás is a magnificent state. I really enjoyed reading about Goiás. Thank you for reading my post.  I’m ready to go to Brazil. Are you?

  1. Obrigada pela informação! I really enjoyed your interesting post.

I am ready to go to Brazil! I have enjoyed how this class has allowed us to explore so many different parts of Brazil. I don't know where I want to visit first!

Goiás looks like a neat place. I had heard of an emu before but not an ema. Thank you for sharing with us about this bird. I would love to visit São Jorge. That water looks amazing!

I want to try the biscoito de queijo - delicious! I have never had fruit with my rice. So I would love to try goias arroz com pequi. I think the concept of the fruit and green onion is really unique.

    Tchau!

  2. Olá Lucia Thank you for the information!
I would definitely visit Goiás just to go swimming in those beautiful turquoise clear waters of São Jorge. I wouldn’t mind trying all those yummy foods you mentioned in your post. One that I would really like to try would be the Empadão goiano. I did a little bit of research and it has lingüiças “sausages”.
Thank you for introducing the ema. These birds do look like an ostrich.
I’m so ready to visit Brazil!! Brazil and it’s amazing landmarks including the nature parks are definitely on my trip list.

  3. Olá,

Goiás seems like a fun place to visit. The autodromo international de Goiana would be a cool experience. I would also like to go to São Jorge to relax and swim underneath the waterfall. The food also looks delicious. I would like to try the Empadão goiano and the Biscoito de queijo. I have also never heard of an ema but it does look very similar to an ostrich.

  4. Boa tarde,

Yes I'm ready to go to Brazil! This seems like a beautiful region to visit. The empadão looks especially delicious-- I would love to taste this dish!

Thank you for including information about the ema, I've never heard of this bird before. I wonder how similar it is to the emu and what differences there are between them. Wildlife isn't something I usually think of when I think of traveling to a new country, but it was interesting to read about this native South American Species!

    1. Hey Michelle,
I agree South America has some unique ecology there. I think it would be interesting if that was included into the states because of the big span of brazil both north and south, east and west!

  5. I find it so amazing how a lot of the places in Brazil have both the tropical and city life right next to each other. Living in Los Angeles my whole life has taught me to appreciate places like this because all I have a round me is city unless we drive out of the city for a few hours. Also the food looks amazing! I don't eat meat so all the food that I've seen is eatable for me and it looks delicious!

  6. Oí companheiros boa tarde,
Brazil is definitely a tropical place from head to toe, it has a lot of places to relax and be peaceful, Sao Jorge, Goiás reminds me of place in Chiapas, Mexico, where the water is turquoise and clean and its so beautiful because it doesn’t have a lot of tourism. The ema, looks like a heron, I haven’t heard of that bird before.
    Thank you for your post
    Bom dia

  7. Boa tarde,
I love the picture of the bird! I always think the variation of wildlife around the world is so crazy and interesting. To answer your question, I would love to go to Brazil and just spend time looking at all of the animals and wildlife there. I bet there are so many cool things to find. I think sometimes they even find new species in Brazil, that have never been found before? That is SO crazy to me. Thank you for an awesome post!

  8. Another amazing place in Brazil. Even though I love the Atlantic coast, I wish I can spend some time to try the food of the region. The Goias arroz com pequi looks very tasty from the photos you have in the post. Thank you for that.
Racing is very popular in Brazil. The city of Goiana offers an international racing center which is an event worth to watch.
What amazed me of Brazil is the right combination of modern architecture and modern ways of living and with natures and wild life.

  10. I am definitely ready to go to Brazil. I can't believe how many awesome places there are.

I've heard of that bird before, probably on planet earth. I stuck out to me for it's close relation to the ostrich as you mention. The food looks awesome as well

  11. Hey Lucia,
Goiás is a pretty filled state for being so small. Filled with nature that is. I am suprised that these Brazilian states continue to have beautiful natural wonders in all of them. Its cool to see the eco-city planning in the video where there were still a lot of trees preserved.
