The state of Amazonas is located in the in the North Region of Brazil. It is named after the Amazon River. Most of the state is a tropical jungle, it's also the largest state in Brazil with a 4.081 million population. Although most of it is jungle, there are cities that are navigable through waterway transportation. A substantial part of the Amazon rainforest economy comes from illegal activities, like drug dealing, biological trade and wood cutting. The Amazon rainforest serves as a path to drug dealers to deliver their production

Food
When it comes to food, the rainforest provides a lot of fresh and exotic indigents that are not used in everyday households. One of the main sources of protein for the people is fish, because of the Amazonian river all the fish that is encountered is very rich and flavorful. The Amazon jungle is full of a lot of exotic fruits that are incorporated into desserts, drinks and even sauces. If you have ever had boba (aka tapioca) it is produced from the famous cassava root native to Amazon

Tourist

As a tourist some of the best things to do is to start at the jungle! Tours of the jungle are offered with a well tour guide and you will be able to see the different kinds of animals that live there. A cruise on the Amazon river is also offered, you are taken deep into the forest and you'd also be able to see a few of the aquatic animals. The picture above is the meeting of the two greatest rivers the Rio Negro and the Amazon river. The meeting of these two rivers is shown with the waters of the Rio Negro being black as coffee and the waters of the Amazon river being like coffee with cream.

Looks like an incredible place. It is a little sad that their economy is based on illegal activities. I'll be honest I think I would be scared to take a tour. I'm wondering how safe is to take a tour deep in the forest. I guess I would have to do my research and find a legit tour company. Waterway transportation to explore the cities sounds great, sounds like a unique experience. I would love to learn more about its flora and fauna.

Such an interesting fact, I didn't know that boba was produced from cassava native to Amazon.

    great videos

    Obrigada!!

  2. Obrigada pela informação! I enjoyed learning more about the Amazonas.

I would love to visit the Amazonas' jungle. I think seeing the Rio Negro would be legal! I have never seen a black river before so I would want to see it. I would also love to try some of the exotic fruits there too. I think it would interesting to study the daily nutrition in peoples' diets there. Sounds like they very healthy foods.

I am sad to read about the illegal activities, especially the cutting and burning of trees. I have often heard these forest referred to as the lungs of the world. So, I am sadden for the people living there and the creatures that we are loosing this precious resource. Thank you for reminding us of that with your post.

    Obrigada!

  3. Bom dia!

Thanks for all the information on the Amazonas. Thinking of visiting the jungle just makes me think of the live action movie of the jungle book. The one animal I would definitely want to see is the jaguar. Although it would be scary, they are beautiful, especially all black jaguars. I would also love to the ride down the river and see some other aquatic animals. I disagree with the wood cutting and drug dealing and I hope that it doesn't pollute the amazing environment the Amazonas seem to have!

  4. Hello, Amazonas sounds great, especially because the tour in the middle of the jungle sounds like an exotic and unique experience. Someday I would like to visit Amazonas. It is incredible that they built a city the in the middle of the jungle. It is fascinating. I read that in this place they have problems with illegal activities. Maybe the remote location is good for hiding this. I hope the government of Brazil can do something about that for the people that live there, and also for all the tourist that visit this wonderful place.

    1. The state for Amazonas its impressive and amazing, although it would be one of the last places that I would visit, I’m scared of pretty much everything that is over there and the tropical jungle with the waterway transportation I would been terrified because of the anacondas, the crocodiles, the piranhas, and al the water creatures.

  6. I have had the chance to travel to the Amazonian rain forest when I was younger. It is simply spectacular. It is true, the food uses a lot of fish. And there is a huge variety of fishes, some of them small, but also you can find huge fish that weigh close to 200 pounds. Everything there is impressive: a large river that sometimes looks like a lake or a sea because you don't see the other river bank. Insects are impressive as well: tons of mosquitos, spiders that are the size of a hand. It is a beautiful adventure.

  7. I would like to visit this place and take a tour of the jungle or possibly a cruise down the Amazon river. I was very surprised that Amazonas is the largest state in Brazil and has a population of over 4 million people. I would think that other states, especially the ones that are popular touristic locations would have higher populations. I would also like to try the fresh fish from the Amazon River or the exotic fruits from the jungle.

  8. Amazonas looks awesome I would for sure visit somewhere along the amazon. I've seen the confluence of those rivers on tv and am still amazed by it. It's unfortunate that most of the economy is driven by illicit activities.
